Tymphany Appoints Christopher J. Struck Vice President of Engineering for North America Operations.

CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Electroacoustic Expert to Drive U.S.-Based Engineering Team Responsible for the Implementation of the Tymphany Linear Array Transducer and Future Innovations

Tymphany(TM) Corporation, a leader in innovative audio solutions, today announced the appointment of Christopher J. Struck as Vice President of Engineering for the company's North America operations. Struck joins Tymphany from Dolby Laboratories, where he was director of engineering in the consumer licensing division. In his new position, Struck will lead the engineering team's implementation of R&D and product development activities on the Tymphany Linear Array Transducer(TM)(LAT). He will also work closely with Poul Praestgaard, his VP of Engineering counterpart in Denmark, to define and drive future innovations under the guidance of Tymphany's CTO, Ken Kantor.

As VP of Engineering for Tymphany's North America Operations, Struck has oversight of the acoustical design and mechanical engineering talents in Tymphany's North American operations. His team is also responsible for supporting the sales application engineers that work with Tymphany's OEM customers to customize the Tymphany LAT for their unique solution.

Struck will work in partnership with Poul Praestgaard, VP of Engineering for Tymphany's Denmark Operations, to drive LAT development efforts in Tymphany's Denmark offices, where the engineering team is undergoing significant growth in order to support the company's commitment to advancing the state-of-the-art in audio transducer technology across its brands.

At Dolby, Struck oversaw encoder and decoder implementation licensing and certification, test development, test and measurement licensing, and the technical requirements and recommendations for all Dolby licensed technologies. Prior to that he was manager of electroacoustics in the Research Group at GN ReSound where he was responsible for the acoustical design and characterization of that company's analogue and digital hearing devices.

In other positions, Struck was an application specialist in electroacoustics for Bruel & Kjaer in Copenhagen, Denmark. There he helped to develop new measurement techniques and new instrumentation for testing electroacoustic transducers, most notably the Type 4128 Head and Torso Simulator and the Type 2012 Audio Analyzer. He also worked for the University of Wisconsin Electroacoustics Lab, developing circuitry for transducer measurements, sound intensity research, and active noise control applications.

Struck holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin. He is author of many technical papers, application notes and articles on acoustics, electroacoustics, telephonometry, linear and non-linear system analysis, signal processing, and measurement techniques. He is a fellow of the Audio Engineering Society, a member of the Acoustical Society of America, and a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
