Tyco Electronics Power Systems, Inc. Announces New Generation of High Efficiency, High Density Bus Converters; QBW025A0B Series Supports High-Power High Density Applications Using 12V Intermediate Bus Architecture.
DALLAS -- Tyco Electronics Tyco Electronics was the largest unit of Tyco International Ltd., and the world's leading supplier of passive electronic components. On June 29, 2007 Tyco Electronics became a wholly independent publicly-traded company, along with Covidien, from the breakup of the Tyco conglomerate Power Systems, Inc. today announced the availability of the next generation QBW QBW QuickBooks for Windows 025A0B Series of DC-DC DC-DC Direct Current to Direct Current (power conversion) power modules, which provide up to 25A output current in an industry standard quarter brick. The modules are well suited for high power 12V intermediate bus voltage applications where multiple lower output voltages are generated using modular point of load (POL) converters. The QBW025A0B series is capable of delivering 50% more power to the load in a standard quarter-brick package compared to the previous generation. In addition, its wide input range makes it well suited for telecommunications, enterprise and other demanding applications that require low power dissipation and high efficiency.
The QBW025A0B power modules operate over a wide input voltage range of 36 to 75 Vdc and provide a single, optimally regulated 12V +/- 5% output while operating at a high power density of 220W/in3. These modules incorporate synchronous rectification technology and innovative packaging techniques to achieve ultra high efficiency -- reaching 94% at a 12.0V full load. This leads to lower power dissipations thereby eliminating the requirement for a heat sink A material that absorbs heat. Typically made of aluminum, heat sinks are widely used in amplifiers and other electronic devices that build up heat. Small heat sinks are the most economical method for cooling microprocessors and other chips. in many applications. The output is fully isolated, allowing versatile polarity configurations and grounding connections. In addition, the built-in filtering for both input and output minimizes the need for external filtering.
The QBW025A0B series power modules are rated for a wide operating temperature range of -40 degrees C to 85 degrees C in an industry standard quarter-brick package of 57.9 mm x 36.8 mm x 10.6 mm (2.28 in. x 1.45 in. x 0.42 in.). Standard features include remote on/off, low output ripple and noise, output over current/voltage protection, short circuit protection and input under-voltage lockout lockout, intentional closing up of a company, factory, or shop by an employer to prevent employees from working during a strike or labor dispute. The term lockout . Optional features include active load sharing, baseplate baseplate /base·plate/ (-plat) a sheet of plastic material used in making trial plates for artificial dentures.
1. (-H), auto restart after a fault shutdown and case ground pin. The series is fully compliant to RoHS EU Directive 2002/95/EC and is compatible in a Pb-free or SnPb reflow (1) The process of heating and melting the solder that has been screen printed onto a printed circuit board in order to bond chips and other components to the board. Surface mount chips (SMT) use the reflow method. Contrast with wave soldering. See also reflowable text. environment. In addition, the CE mark meets 73/23/EEC and 93/68/EEC directives.
The QBW025A0B series power modules can be used in a wide variety of applications, ranging from distributed power architectures to complex telecom networks. Each module is priced at $57.10 for 1,000 units. Samples are available now and standard lead time is stock to 8 weeks.
