TxPORT Adds Features -- Drops Price of T3 Access Device.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 5, 1997--TxPORT, a major manufacturer of high-speed data and voice communications products, today announced they have added SNMP/Telnet manageability to their model 3301 T3-CSU/DSU at the same time dropping the suggested list price from $5,995 to $4,295 P a drop of more than 28%. Supporting data rates from 3.157 to 44.210 million bits per second (the equivalent of 28 T1 lines), the TxPORT 3301 includes an industry standard HSSI (High-Speed Serial Interface) A serial interface with transmission rates up to 52 Mbps. It is often used to connect one or more LAN routers and network devices to a T3 line, which provides 44.736 Mbps.  (high speed serial interface (hardware, communications) high speed serial interface - (HSSI) A serial port which supports serial transmit speeds of up to 52 megabits per second. It is typically used for leased lines such as DS3 (44.736 Mbps) and E3 (34 Mbps) and for Wide Area Network devices such as routers. ) for video teleconferencing, CAD/CAM CAD/CAM

The built-in manageability of the TxPORT 3301 allows for local or remote control using the embedded SNMP/Telnet agent and the VT100 interface. TxPORT's COA (Certificate Of Authenticity) A document that accompanies software which states that it is an original package from the manufacturer. It generally includes a seal with a difficult-to-copy emblem such as a holographic image.  (Call Out on Alarm) capability notifies network administrators at remote facilities of service degradation. The simple interface allows the user to quickly and easily perform unit configuration, set alarm parameters, and perform local and remote diagnostic testing. Unit configuration parameters are stored in non-volatile memory.

Incorporating advanced performance monitoring features and powerful diagnostics, the TxPORT 3301 T3-CSU/DSU allows the user to rapidly isolate unit and/or facility problems. Errored seconds, error free seconds, severely errored seconds and short failure events are continuously monitored and kept in a 24-hour register for local or remote access using an ASCII terminal. The enhanced performance and operational requirements of the 3301 conform to the AT&T 54014 industry standard.

"The 3301 is not only a more robust product, its new price point makes it a very economical choice for anyone needing to access T3 services," said David Sandor, manager of product marketing for TxPORT. "The reliability inherent in the design of the 3301 when combined with the manageability the embedded SNMP/Telnet agent provides, results in a device that is ideally suited to mission critical networks."

The 3301 continues the TxPORT tradition of providing users with sophisticated products that are easy to install, easy to use and easy to manage. Users security concerns are addressed with multiple levels of passwords that protect from unauthorized access while providing operational flexibility. Users can be permitted view-only access that prohibit changes to parameters or administrative access to all features and functions.

The TxPORT 3301 includes a 5-year warranty. The unit is available immediately at a suggested list price of $4,295.
