Two views on Martha."The Last Word" commentary is normally on target with orthodox conservative thought, but "Straining at Gnats, Swallowing Camels" (March 8 issue) by Mr. William Norman Grigg William Norman Grigg is a writer of Mexican and Irish descent.[1] He was the senior editor and a prolific contributor to The New American, the official magazine of the John Birch Society. was an exception. Going libertarian and wobbly on Martha Stewart <noinclude></noinclude> Martha Stewart (born Martha Helen Kostyra on August 3, 1941) is an American business magnate, author, editor and homemaking advocate. She is also a former stockbroker and fashion model. is something I would not have anticipated in THE NEW AMERICAN. We are all rightfully outraged at the justice system's failure to deal effectively with Joseph P. Smith and like child molesters but that is irrelevant to the Martha Stewart case, which in no way affects bringing violent criminals to justice. Subsequent actions by the SEC and the stock exchanges indicate how serious insider trading is and how vital investor confidence is to the world of high finance. Martha Stewart is a triumph of new ideas "New Ideas" is the debut single by Scottish New Wave/Indie Rock act The Dykeenies. It was first released as a Double A-side with "Will It Happen Tonight?" on July 17, 2006. The band also recorded a video for the track. and hard work in the American way The American way of life is an expression that refers to the "life style" of people living in the United States of America. If there is a mitigating factor in her favor it is the example of her friend Bill Clinton, for whom she raised large sums of money and whose wrongdoings she defended at every opportunity. As we know Clinton repeatedly got away with violating the law. Stewart's problems stem from her failure to recognize that Clinton's departure left her vulnerable. The prosecution of Martha Stewart is no "jihad" and she did commit offenses against property, i.e. the ImClone stock she sold with inside information to unwitting buyers. If she is the victim of an injustice, does the same contention apply to her mentor Sam Waksal of ImClone, who is now serving time for his insider trading? No tears, crocodile or otherwise, should be shed for poor Martha, and there is no reason to believe that giving white-collar criminals a pass would lead to better enforcement against violent criminals. However, as Mr. Grigg so adequately put it, dangerous figures like Martha Stewart need to be taught a lesson. So, millions of dollars will be spent for legal and federal expenses and an example of her will, be made to the public.
