In it the editors set aside the usual newsletter format in favor of 11 sidebar-like boxes listing facts, numbers, and dollar amounts designed to "boiling the President down to a job performance review."

The charts are titled: The Economy, Wages, Jobs, The War, Globaloney, Social Security, Health Care, Taxes, Education, Civil Liberties, and The Environment. No need to say, President Bush doesn't come off, to put it mildly, well.

Hightower, who was twice elected to state-wide office in Texas, writes with down-home (or "lowdown") humor humor, according to ancient theory, any of four bodily fluids that determined man's health and temperament. Hippocrates postulated that an imbalance among the humors (blood, phlegm, black bile, and yellow bile) resulted in pain and disease, and that good health was  and scathing attacks similar to fellow Texan columnist Molly Ivins Mary Tyler "Molly" Ivins (August 30 1944 – January 31 2007) was a liberal American newspaper columnist, political commentator, and best-selling author from Austin, Texas. .

Described on the newsletter's website as "America's most popular populist," Hightower is also the author of Let's Stop Beating Around the Bush, Thieves in High Places, If the Gods Had Meant Us to Vote They Would Have Given Us Candidates, and There's Nothing in the Middle of the Road but Yellow Stripes and Dead Armadillos.
