Two new subscription online services from Amer. Psych. Association.The American Psychological Association The American Psychological Association (APA) is a professional organization representing psychology in the US. Description and history The association has around 150,000 members and an annual budget of around $70m. (APA (All Points Addressable) Refers to an array (bitmapped screen, matrix, etc.) in which all bits or cells can be individually manipulated. APA - Application Portability Architecture ; Wash., D.C.) this month launched PsycCRITIQUES, a subscription database of book reviews in psychology, to replace its bi-monthly magazine, Contemporary Psychology. Updated weekly, the database will carry 15 reviews with a backfile of about 4000 written from 1995-2003. A current subscription to the magazine, which will close with the December December: see month. issue, costs $56 for APA members, $141 for individual non-members and $427 for institutions. Access to the database is free until the end of this year. The APA has also launched PsycBOOKS, a full-text database of scholarly books and texts. The initial release includes over 600 books and 10,000 individual chapters published by the APA, Oxford University Press and other publishers. The database, to be updated monthly, will also include out-of-print titles dating to 1806 as well as original and subsequent versions of books that have been published in multiple editions.
