Two new medical journals from Elsevier Science.Elsevier Science, Inc. (New York) has begun the publication of two new medical journals, including Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery and Autoimmunity autoimmunity /au·to·im·mu·ni·ty/ (-i-mu´ni-te) a condition characterized by a specific humoral or cell-mediated immune response against the constituents of the body's own tissues (autoantigens); it may result in hypersensitivity reactions or, if severe, in autoimmune disease. Reviews, with January/February issues. Both will be published six times a year. Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery is designed to supply surgeons with the latest news and developments in the field. Editorial also includes guest commentary, analysis, case studies, symposia, results of conferences and original practice articles. An annual subscription costs $195. Elsevier said that Autoimmunity Reviews carries reviews on diverse topics in autoimmunity, including illustrations and tables that have a "take-home message." Editorial includes information on all fields of autoimmunology, "bridging the gap between basic and clinical science," including pathophysiology 1. The functional changes associated with or resulting from disease or injury. 2. The study of such changes.
