Two Popular Freescale Products Nominated for 16th Annual EDN Innovation Awards; EDN Magazine Names MPC8548E PowerQUICC(TM) III Processors and MMA7260Q Acceleration Sensor as Finalists for Prestigious Industry Awards.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Everyone loves a winner -- and a finalist, too. Two of Freescale Semiconductor's (NYSE:FSL) (NYSE:FSL.B) most advanced silicon solutions have been recognized as top technology innovations in 2005. EDN Magazine has chosen Freescale's MPC8548E communications processor family and MMA7260Q three-axis, low-g acceleration sensor as finalists in the publication's 16th annual Innovation of the Year awards competition.

Selected as finalists from hundreds of entries, each of these semiconductor products demonstrates a significant advance in technology and/or product development. The MPC8548E PowerQUICC(TM) III communications processors based on PowerPC(R) cores received honors in the processor category. The MMA7260Q acceleration sensor was recognized in the sensors and components category.
