LOS ANGELES Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  -- Twistbox Games, the mobile games development and publishing division of Twistbox Entertainment, Inc., kicks off 2007 with praise from the mobile gaming industry for its internally developed breakthrough title ANNO 1701 Mobile. The game was nominated for the prestigious 2007 "Best Made for Mobile" Game by the GSM Association (GSM Association, Dublin, Ireland, www.gsmworld.com) A membership association founded in 1987 that promotes the development and evolution of the GSM communications standard worldwide.  (GSMA GSMA GSM (Groupe Spéciale Mobile) Association

ANNO 1701 Mobile was shortlisted within the Best Made for Mobile Game Category, demonstrating Twistbox's success in pioneering the revolutionary and first-of-its kind European game that allows for mobile integration with PC play. ANNO 1701 Mobile lets users transfer points won during mobile game play to their PC game. Additionally, ANNO 1701 Mobile is the first mobile title to feature video cut scenes on select high end 3G handsets - functionality which to date has only been included in PC and Console games. ANNO 1701 Mobile, which was launched in October of 2006, is already available mobile operators across Europe. The popular medieval-themed strategy game, set in a world of islands, is published by Kaasa Solution GmbH and based on Sunflowers' PC game ANNO 1701.

"We are honored that our industry peers have recognized our risk-taking efforts to innovate current standards of mobile game development and bring improved game play to the consumer," said Eugen Barteska, Managing Director of Twistbox Games. "The GSM Association's Global Mobile Awards celebrate the highest achievements across our industry during the world's largest mobile industry event, the 3GSM World Congress on February 13th, and we are thrilled to be included." Mr. Barteska continued, "We are looking forward to offering even more quality and compelling mobile games in 2007 to users around the world."

Twistbox Games' 2007 GSM Association nomination comes on the heels of an already highly successful 2006 - seeing the company wrapping the year up by collecting other esteemed mobile industry awards. In December, ANNO 1701 Mobile was awarded the "Best Mobile Strategy Game" at Deutscher Entwicklerpreis, the prestigious German Developer Awards. These awards and honors build on the company's momentum from the 2005 event, when its "Giana Sisters" game won the "Best Mobile Action Game" award.
