Twichell named WMIA president. (Trends & News).

Scott Twichell, president of machinery distributor Howard S. Twichell Co. Inc. of Dallas, TX, has been named president of the Woodworking Machinery Industry Assn. He succeeds Heinz Schmidt.

In his acceptance speech at the WMIA's annual business session, held during the recent Woodworking Industry Conference, Twichell outlined projects on WMIA's strategic agenda. They include: backing the High Productivity Investment Act for computerized equipment, expediting the WinSTEP open-architecture software initiative, improving WMIA training programs, expanding the value of the annual WIC meeting, expanding WMIA's Internet presence and working with WIG associates to build a Web- based master database to help customers find complete information on woodworking supplies and systems, supporting WoodLINKS-USA, and having WMIA members mentor Educational Foundation Scholarship recipients.
