About AMC-3 and AMC-5 Satellites

Launched in 1997, AMC-3 is a Lockheed Martin A2100 hybrid C and Ku-band satellite, which orbits above the earth at 87 degrees west longitude. AMC-3's C-band transponders provide cable, radio, and educational programming distribution, while its Ku-band capacity supports the education, broadcast, SNG, business television and broadband Internet markets.

AMC-5, launched in 1998, is an Alcatel Spacebus 2000 all-Ku-band spacecraft located at 79 degrees west longitude. AMC-5 serves the SNG, occasional services, VSAT (Very Small Aperture satellite Terminal) A small earth station for satellite transmission that handles up to 56 Kbits/sec of digital transmission.
