Turkish Ambitions.


Speaking at an international oil and gas conference in Ankara Ankara (ăng`kərə, Turk. äng`kärä), city (1990 pop. 2,533,209), capital of Turkey and Ankara prov., W central Turkey, at an elevation of c.3,000 ft (910 m).  about development of Iraqi petroleum reserves, Vice Chairman of Turkish Petroleum Int'l Corp Yakup Ozcelik on March 29 said Turkey should not allow its opportunities in Iraq Iraq or Irak (both: ēräk`, ĭrăk`), officially Republic of Iraq, republic (2005 est. pop. 26,075,000), 167,924 sq mi (434,924 sq km), SW Asia.  to be used without taking anything. He said Turkish firms must have a role in Iraq's E&P. Noting that the coalition forces which helped the US in Iraq gained advantages, Ozcelik insisted that Turkish firms should be active in all of Iraq, saying: "Without taking any petroleum area in Iraq, we should not allow the transfer of petrol petrol: see gasoline.  produced by others".
