DREW DANIEL (Soft Pink Truth, Matmos): Etant Donnes, "Bleu" [from the EP Royaume, available on the U.K. label Touch]. It's just sexy whispering in French, with field recordings of weather and bells. Plus it's two brothers, whispering to each other, so that's pretty hot. Also, Nina Simone, Al Green, Dusty Springfield, and La Question by Francoise Hardy.

BOB MOULD (solo artist, ex-lead singer of Sugar and Husker Du): My main "in the mood" record is I Love 1984 by Geyster, a Paris-based duo who specialize in an interesting mix of mid-'70s West Coast vocal pop and French house music. It makes me want to move to L.A., buy a convertible, and drive around town with a sexy muscle cub riding shotgun.

SARAH DOUGHER (solo artist): "When the Levee levee (lĕv`ē) [Fr.,=raised], embankment built along a river to prevent flooding by high water. Levees are the oldest and the most extensively used method of flood control.  Breaks" by Led Zeppelin, Why? Because that mean old levee taught me to weep and moan.

TOM STEPHAN (Superchumbo): I can't listen to music and have sex. I either start enjoying the music, or the song changes, and then I get annoyed. Either way I'm distracted from more important matters. Maybe some instrumental chill-out music would be OK, but don't even think about Barry White or Marvin Gaye.

): D'Angelo's Voodoo has got to be some of the most seductive, sexy make-out music I've ever heard. When I'm in a more romantic mood, AI Green's "Let's Stay Together" is a fine choice. And when I want to get down and dirty with myself? Tweet's "Oops (Oh My)" is all about the joys of self-pleasure ... yum.

AMY RAY (Indigo Girls, solo artist): Massive Attack's 100th Window. I discovered it in some hip hotel room's CD collection, and really it's the best--especially the songs with Sinead O'Connor's guest vocals. It's hypnotic and gets under your skin without rubbing you the wrong way.
