TuneUp.com Announces "DataGarage," Internet Backup For Data Files; TuneUp.com Continues to Expand the One-Stop Online PC Service Center.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 10, 1996-- TuneUp.com continues to expand with the addition of DataGarage, an online data backup and storage service available to TuneUp.com subscribers at http://www.tuneup.com.

Launching in September 1996, TuneUp.com will be the first and only anti-virus and PC service center on the Internet. DataGarage service will be one of the first services added to the one-stop PC service center after its launch.

TuneUp.com is pioneering the concept of Serviceware -- delivering essential services to PC users online. Rather than simply porting software from a packaged product to the Web, TuneUp.com is designing and offering unique services that could not have existed without widespread accessibility to the Internet.

Similar to a self-storage facility, DataGarage will automatically backup a PC user's important data files to a secure location. DataGarage is a premium service that offers storage space in 5MB, 10MB, and 30MB sizes starting at $2.95 per month (a basic subscription to TuneUp.com is $3.95 per month).

How DataGarage works:

To take advantage of the DataGarage services, subscribers download the DataGarage serviceware (approximately 500K, which takes approximately 12 minutes or less depending on modem speed). Installation and setup on their computer are automatic.

DataGarage storage is easy to use and secure. Subscribers identify the files they want to back-up and also select the frequency they would like to have DataGarage automatically perform the back-up process. Rather than backing up entire files again, after the initial back-up, DataGarage will perform incremental Additional or increased growth, bulk, quantity, number, or value; enlarged.

Incremental cost is additional or increased cost of an item or service apart from its actual cost.
storage of only the data that has changed in a file since the last time it was backed-up.

DataGarage can also be set to automatically "shut down" the user's computer upon completion of the back-up. There is also an option for users to have a CD-ROM CD-ROM: see compact disc.

of their stored data created for them. DataGarage users benefit from state-of-the-art security. During the back-up process, data is fully encrypted en·crypt
