Utilizing Cisco's 10 Gigabit Ethernet An Ethernet standard that transmits at 1 Gbps. Used mostly to connect high-end workstations and servers as well as for network backbones, Gigabit Ethernet transmits full duplex from point to point using switches and half duplex in a shared environment (CSMA/CD) using a hub.  technology, a first in Thailand, the upgrade will enable True Internet, True's subsidiary, to enhance the performance, availability and efficiencies of its network in preparation of increasing broadband demand.

True has activated multiple 10 Gigabit Ethernet links on its Internet backbone, which is designed to deliver high-quality broadband Internet See broadband.  services for business and home users across Thailand. The upgrade to 10 Gbps provides greater backbone bandwidth to help ensure that True continues to lead the industry in performance and reliability, guaranteeing a high level of service for Internet users Internet user ninternauta m/f

. The upgrade also provides full service to its Internet backbone designed to offer continuous network availability.

At the heart of the network upgrade are Cisco(R) Catalyst(R) 6500 Supervisor Engine 720-based 10 Gigabit Ethernet modules. The modules are supported across all Cisco Catalyst 6500 chassis and interfaces to maximize existing network investments. They also feature several industry-firsts, allowing customers to simplify network management, enhance operational control, maximize network uptime, and enable hardware-accelerated services like Internet Protocol See Internet and TCP/IP.
