Triversity Inc., the leader in customer-centric retail solutions that enhance the Customer Experience and improve operating efficiencies, today announced that Transactionware Enterprise now supports the IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  4690 operating system operating system (OS)

, allowing Triversity's industry-leading enterprise POS solution to be deployed on legacy 46XX hardware and peripherals.

The true thin-client architecture of Transactionware Enterprise allows it be deployed in a mixed IBM 4690 environment, with support for both standard Java clients that have graphical interfaces, as well as very low-end 4690 clients through a 4690-specific front end that can leverage 46XX POS hardware and peripherals. As a result, retailers can now implement a true thin-client J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) solution, even with antiquated 469X or 468X hardware. Triversity will demonstrate Transactionware Enterprise running on an IBM 4694-144 hardware system with only an Intel 486 processor and 8MB of memory at Triversity booth #1921 at the National Retail Federation Show, Jan. 11-13 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City New York City: see New York, city.

"With Transactionware Enterprise, retailers can deploy newer graphical POS systems at customer service desks and gift registries, for example, while leveraging existing 4690 POS hardware at the checkout lanes -- giving retailers the ability to roll out new POS hardware over a multi-year period, utilize existing hardware and peripherals as needed as needed prn. Triversity's Transactionware Enterprise is the most cost-effective, easily deployed J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) solution available today for POS and Point-of-Interaction applications in the retail enterprise. Transactionware Enterprise is the first and only Java POS solution designed from the ground up to harness the power of J2EE. Its highly scalable, open architecture allows retailers to deploy solutions ranging from true thin-client to thick-client systems, on up to massively scalable enterprise server environments that handle billions of transactions per year.

The Triversity Enterprise Framework contained within Transactionware Enterprise fully integrates with IBM's J2EE infrastructure -- WebSphere Application Server 5, WebSphere MQ and DB2 Universal Database. As a result, Transactionware Enterprise can leverage the IBM software stack for applications that span the retail enterprise -- from head office to store servers to the full range of customer touch points, including point-of-sale (POS) systems, kiosks, and the Internet.
