Tripath Turns Up the Volume on Subwoofers and Powered Speakers With New Class-T Amplifier Driver; Tripath's New TDA1800 Offers High Power and High Fidelity for Single-Channel Applications.

LAS VEGAS -- Tripath Technology Inc. (OTCBB OTCBB

See OTC Bulletin Board (OTCBB).
:TRPH TRPH Total Recoverable Petroleum Hydrocarbons ), creators of Class-T(R) Advanced 1-bit Digital Amplifiers, today introduced the TDA TDA Texas Department of Agriculture
TDA Trade and Development Agency
TDA Transportation Development Act
TDA Tax Deferred Annuity (commonly known as TSA)
TDA Tienda (Spanish: store)
1800 amplifier driver. The TDA1800 provides a single channel of high-quality, high-efficiency, full-range audio up to 800 watts. The TDA1800 is specifically targeted for high-power monaural See monophonic.  applications such as home theater subwoofers, aftermarket automotive amplifiers and professional powered speakers.

Similar to the TDA1400 introduced in October, The TDA1800 uses Class-T technology to deliver audiophile An individual who is very interested and enthusiastic about the sound quality of a stereo or home theater system. Quality audio components are designed to reproduce the audio without adding any distortion or coloration.  quality from low-cost field-effect transistors (FETs), resulting in distortion of less then 0.005 percent and lower system costs. It is a full-range amplifier offering excellent quality over the entire audio range. The TDA1800 is ideal for automotive amplifiers because its high current output can support 2-ohm applications. It is also an ideal product for professional powered speakers and monitors.

The TDA1800 compliments the TDA1400 in several new key markets for Tripath. Both parts offer the most cost effective solution over a wide power range, with the TDA1800 offering a very cost effective solution from 800 down to 400 watts, and the less expensive TDA1400 for applications 400 watts or less.

The cost advantage provided by Class-T is a great fit for the home theater and automotive markets, while the audiophile quality is advantageous in the powered speaker market. The high power and 2-ohm capability of the TDA1800 make it ideal for automotive subwoofers. The Consumer Electronics Association estimates that over 2 million automotive amplifiers will be shipped this year in the U.S. alone.

The TDA1800 features the same industry leading efficiency of 90 percent, compared with the typical 85 percent from other high-efficiency solutions. Higher efficiency translates to lower cost because a smaller heat sink and power supply may be used. The higher output-power of the TDA1800 makes this difference even more noticeable than lower power applications, further lowering the cost of implementation. The solution is also easily scalable. By changing the power supply voltage and choice of output FETs, the power can be tailored from 800 watts down to 100 watts without changing the application circuit.

Complete reference designs are available for the TDA1800 with dual supply and single supply options. The solutions are intended to be low cost and compact designs that can be quickly moved into production units. Class-T technology allows the amplifier to operate from standard, low-cost linear or switching supplies, yielding the best bang for the buck in the industry.

The TDA1800 is available in a 36 pin PSOP PSOP Plastic Small Outline Package
PSOP Personal Stock Option Plan
PSOP Power Small Outline Package
package, and retails for $4.50 in quantities of 1000. The reference design is available from Tripath's website with schematics, layout, and component lists for quick and easy implementation. An evaluation board is also available through Tripath's distributors. For more information visit www.tripath.com
