MEVA, whose facilities are located on the Danube in the town of Drobeta Turnu Severin Turnu Severin: see Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Romania. , will be Trinity's second manufacturing acquisition in Romania. The company purchased Astra Vagoane in the western city of Arad in June. At the same time, it also bought ICPV ICPV Illinois Center for the Prevention of Violence , the primary Romanian firm for railcar engineering and design.

Transport of cargo by rail is increasing in the European marketplace and demand for the leasing of railcars is projected to grow. At the same time, Europe's fleet of existing railcars is about ten years older than the U.S. fleet and is in need of replacement.
