To provide training to a multidisciplinary group of participants on alternative response approaches to elder abuse and to encourage a more integrated approach to service throughout the five Eastern Ontario counties. $16,600 over one year.

Entraide budgetaire Ottawa. To increase the organization's capacity to diversify its funding base so that it can continue to respond to growing demands for its budget counselling services. $28,000 over one year.

National Council on Canada Arab Relations. To build the organization's capacity to create links among Arab organizations in the Ottawa Region in order to improve communications, understanding and create a better social climate. $40,000 over one year.

Ottawa Community Economic Development Network c/o Social Planning Council of Ottawa. For the development of a joint action plan to enhance the social enterprise sector and to continue building the capacity of emerging community economic development and social economy projects in the Ottawa region. $112,000 over two years.

Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization. To support the Welcome Hands program, which recruits volunteers from the community to support recent immigrants and help new Canadians acquire language skills and work experience through structured volunteer involvement. $10,000 over one year.

Ottawa Food Bank. To establish an agency relations co-ordinator position and implement FoodNet, an on-line food management system that can be used by all 111 member agencies. $75,000 over two years.

Ottawa Senators Foundation. To purchase furnishings needed to create a safe and welcoming environment for families and children receiving care at Roger's House, a palliative care centre for youth and children. $75,000 over one year.

Rendez-vous des aines francophones d'Ottawa. To establish a multiservice centre offering a range of social, recreational, cultural and educational activities to Francophone seniors living in Orleans, Vars, Sarsfield and Carlsbad Spring. $90,000 over three years.

Rwandese Social Services and Family Counselling Centre e/o Jewish Family Services of Ottawa-Carleton. To support a homework club and a project that aims to use sports as an avenue for community building. $10,000 over one year.

St. John Ambulance, Cornwall Branch c/o St. John Council for Ontario. To purchase a mobile first-aid post and develop a marketing study, which will build organizational capacity, increase community awareness, attract volunteers and improve services. (An additional grant of $10,000 in Quinte-Kingston-Rideau will support this initiative). $47,800 over one year.

St. John Ambulance Pembroke Administrative Centre c/o St. John Council for Ontario. To reconstruct the basement of St. John House so the space can be fully utilized for volunteer training, classes in first aid, CPR, WHMIS and AED and for the safe secure storage of equipment, supplies and training aids. $26,000 over one year.

Stroke Survivors Association of Ottawa. To develop a strong, viable and sustainable organization that can provide education and support to people who have had a stroke and their families. $50,000 over one year.

Ajax Pickering Women's Centre Inc. (Herizon House). To establish a volunteer training program to train team leaders, volunteer facilitators and volunteers to work effectively with woman abuse survivors and their children. $120,000 over two years.

Alpha House of Development Team c/o Alpha House of Northumberland for Young Mothers. To support the residential program, which provides an opportunity for young pregnant women and young women with babies to return to school, seek employment and learn life skills. $36,500 over two years.

Community Alternatives for School Suspension c/o John Howard Society of Durham Region. To purchase equipment and supplies, rent facilities and obtain skills needed to develop and provide a program that helps students who have been suspended from two Clarington high schools succeed upon their return to school. $140,200 over three years.

Community Living Ajax, Pickering and Whitby. To purchase a passenger van that will provide transportation for people who have multiple disabilities, allowing them to participate more fully in social, recreational and vocational activities and community life. $61,200 over one year.

Five Counties Children's Centre. To implement six unique recreation programs in integrated settings for children with physical disabilities in partnership with community recreation providers in Peterborough, Haliburton, Northumberland and The City of Kawartha Lakes. $86,300 over two years.

Kawartha Ancestral Research Association. To develop new programs for residents of long-term care facilities, expand outreach and complete a strategic plan, which will improve sustainability and increase lifelong opportunities for seniors and others in Peterborough. $44,400 over 18 months.

Kawartha Lakes/Haliburton Domestic Violence Coordinating Committee c/o Victoria County Women's Resource Services. To develop a domestic violence response protocol, ensuring a consistent and co-ordinated response to all spousal abuse in the City of Kawartha Lakes/Haliburton County and increasing the safety of abused women and their children. $67,400 over two years.
