Licensing of Trillium's SCTP and M3UA Software to

Expand Telica's Network Element Interface Offerings

for the Converged Communications Space

Trillium Digital Systems, a division of Intel Corporation and leading provider of communications software solutions, continues its commitment to open interfaces across next generation networks by enabling Telica, Inc. to expand the suite of protocols supported by their standards-based softswitch product. Telica, a leading provider of innovative next generation voice and data switching platforms, utilizes Trillium's M3UA and SCTP software to enable their softswitch to connect to the SS7 network through an IP-based network. This facilitates the convergence of voice, data and signaling traffic and allows tier-one service providers to deliver uninterrupted services across a packet-based network and the PSTN.

Through the licensing of Trillium's SCTP and M3UA software source codes, Telica will speed time-to-market and lower development costs of network equipment that accelerates the seamless convergence and interworking of Public-Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and IP-based networks under a unified architecture. Designed to carry PSTN signaling information over the IP network, Trillium's SCTP can also be utilized to provide a reliable transport delivery mechanism for other multimedia and wireless frameworks such as MEGACO/H.248, SIP and wireless. Similarly, Trillium's M3UA transports the signaling messages between Signaling Gateways (SGs) and Media Gateway Controllers (MGCs), and enables traditional SS7 call signaling protocols to communicate with an IP network.
