Trilithic and Minacom Expand Partnership to Provide Advanced Day-of-Install VoIP Testing; Trilithic's DSP 860i Digital Cable Analyzer is the First Handheld Tester to Be Awarded Minacom's Certified VoIP Test Integration Status as a Gold Partner.

DENVER -- Trilithic continues adding to their VoIP test capabilities through an ongoing strategic partnership with Minacom, the world leader in VoIP Test Systems for Cable MSOs. Minacom announced today that Trilithic's industry-leading 860 DSPi Digital Cable Analyzer has now successfully completed extensive interoperability testing and has been awarded Minacom's Certified VoIP Test Integration status as a Gold Partner, the first handheld cable tester officially compliant with both Minacom's PocketDQ(TM) VoIP Test Automation system and the PowerProbe(R) RTP Streamer Test Agent. To receive recognition as fully interoperable, the 860 DSPi was qualified in Minacom's compliance labs, then field-tested at a US Tier-1 Cable MSO where Trilithic analyzers and DirectQuality(R) R7, PocketDQ and PowerProbe test probes and responders are widely deployed for VoIP provisioning, troubleshooting, monitoring and fault-management.

With Minacom certified interoperability, technicians can use the PocketDQ web-GUI on the Trilithic 860 DSPi to control VoIP day-of-install and troubleshooting tests conducted by the award-winning DirectQuality R7 test system. Using PocketDQ technicians can quickly execute standardized test plans then review results against centralized pass/fail criteria using a simple drill-down interface. Test traffic is generated and analyzed by a PowerProbe(R) 6000 Service Level Test Probe that conducts true end-to-end VoIP service quality testing from the gateway's T1 PRI to a subscriber's 2-wire phone jack where a PowerProbe 30 VoIP Responder is connected. Results reported by PocketDQ are also stored on the DirectQuality R7 server for future reference, installation validation, trending, reporting, service level classification and integration with third-party operational support systems.

The award-winning, line-powered PowerProbe 30 is the smallest comprehensive test solution available for VoIP acceptance testing and troubleshooting. From a single test call lasting less than a minute, a comprehensive array of over 60 VoIP impairments are analyzed, including Speech Quality (MOS), Call Connectivity, Network Responsiveness, codec performance (Packet Loss, VAD), Echo, Noise, Voice Path Delay, Frequency Response, DTMF detection, and Fax Transmission metrics. The PowerProbe 30 can also be used to validate house wiring, benchmark an existing phone service before a number is transferred, and detect one-way audio problems resulting from HFC return-path issues.

In addition to supporting day-of-install testing using PocketDQ with the PowerProbe 30, Trilithic is now recognized as a Minacom Gold Partner by uniquely supporting Minacom's RTP Reflection tests on the 860 DSPi, allowing operators to comprehensively validate triple-play service quality and media delivery performance. RTP Reflection tests use Minacom's RTP Streamer Test Agent running on a PowerProbe service level test probe to create test streams that can be looped back by any Trilithic 860 DSPi located in the field - either at a subscriber premise or at any point within the HFC. Over 35 QoS RTP streaming metrics are assessed, including VoIP speech quality (MOS, R-factor), video/audio packet jitter, packet loss and discard rate, and round-trip delay. Users have complete control over multi-stream traffic to accurately simulate services as delivered over a variety of network configurations, with selectable audio/video codec, user-defined jitter-buffer and payload size, VLAN / IP precedence / ToS settings, packet interval, and other common service/network parameters.
