Trident to Show Advanced 3D, DVD, Video and Audio at WinHEC 97.
The World's Fastest Mobile Computing:
To highlight its commitment to the mobile market Trident will demonstrate the Cyber9397. The Cyber9397 is a 64-bit fully integrated multimedia LCD flat-panel graphics accelerator that provides true 3D graphics for the mobile market with the first on-board setup engine. Aimed primarily at the high-end mobile executive notebook computer, the new chip provides dual display capability for videoconferencing and flicker-free TV-out for those crucial presentations.
The Cyber9397 is the next-generation graphics accelerator after the Cyber9385 which IBM built into their Thinkpad 560. The IBM Thinkpad 560 received the best notebook award from PC Magazine in 1996.
Trident Showcases QSurround
Trident will be hosting a new Qsound Qsurround demo in their booth in order to highlight 3D sound, the merging of 5.1 speakers into two. This virtual speaker technology is part of Trident's Mirage 5.1 software audio module for their high-performance 3DImage975DVD and 985DVD graphics controllers for PC OEMs. The graphics controllers were designed to provide increased performance in the critical areas of graphics acceleration and DVD playback. Mirage 5.1 was formulated by Trident to provide a complete immersive 3D audio experience during DVD playback or during the playing of 3D games on standard PC platforms with only two speakers.
True 3D Available For The First Time
The 3DImage975, which starts in production this quarter, is Trident's front runner in the 3D market. This 66MHz PCI-enabling product will demonstrate fast 3D graphics on a CRT monitor or a TV. The 3DImage975 is the first 3D chip with an on-chip setup engine, and remains the fastest mainstream 3D graphics accelerator on the market today. The 3DImage975 DVD will be at the center of the just introduced DVD player demo. Trident's expertise in the multimedia desktop semiconductor market has pioneered a number of products that support DVD, state-of-the-art MPEG2, and AC3
Trident Leads the Way
Trident technology will be featured with application demos of ClearTV, Trident's third generation TV-out technology, that empowers the home TV set into a PC games arcade. The ProVidia9685 chip provides high-definition digital TV and studio quality AC3 audio for the home PC-powered theater.
