Triangle Equities wins award for Triangle Junction Mall.Triangle Equities has received the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce 2009 Building Brooklyn Award for economic development for their Triangle Junction Mall in Flatbush.The development was done in cooperation with Brooklyn College Brooklyn College: see New York, City University of. and the Flatbush Redevelopment Corporation, as well as the local community boards Community Boards is a community based mediation program, established in 1976, in San Francisco, California, USA. The program utilizes volunteers from from the neighbourhoods of the city, who work with people involved in disagreements toward the end of resolving the dispute, . The project revitalized re·vi·tal·ize tr.v. re·vi·tal·ized, re·vi·tal·iz·ing, re·vi·tal·iz·es To impart new life or vigor to: plans to revitalize inner-city neighborhoods; tried to revitalize a flagging economy. the Flatbush area by revamping an underutilized, defunct municipal parking lot into a 600,000 s/f shopping center shopping center, a concentration of retail, service, and entertainment enterprises designed to serve the surrounding region. The modern shopping center differs from its antecedents—bazaars and marketplaces—in that the shops are usually amalgamated into anchored by Target. It includes a 500-car parking garage. Lester Petracca, owner of Triangle Equities stated, "This development was rewarding in so many ways--we were able to enhance a retail corridor for the community; the positive working relationship with community groups and local elected officials; and overcoming the challenging construction and environmental issues. Triangle Equities has received numerous awards over the years for their work in the revitalization of the College Point. They have been recognized for their work on two other retail developments--Triangle Centre and Triangle Plaza.
