Trial Lawyer Thomas Harty Joins Cozen O'Connor Commercial Litigation Practice.

Firm Continues Expansion Across Business Practices

PHILADELPHIA -- Thomas Harty joins Cozen O'Connor as a member of the commercial litigation department. Harty, who will work from the firm's Philadelphia office, has more than two decades of experience handling complex corporate and commercial litigation matters.

Joining from Levy Angstreich Finney Baldante Rubenstein & Coren, P.C., where he served as a managing attorney and on the executive committee, Harty complements Cozen's existing commercial litigation practice with a wide range of high profile trial experience in contract claims, anti-competitive and unfair trade practices act (including Federal Trade Practices Act) matters, business and securities fraud claims, shareholder litigation, complicated estate and guardianship litigation, and business related terminations, among other areas.

"Tom's reputation as a stellar trial lawyer precedes him. He brings not only considerable talents that will augment our growing commercial litigation practice, but also a desirable client base - which will benefit from our firm's nearly 500 trial and transactional lawyers representing clients across our 22 offices in the United States, London and Toronto," said Jeffrey Weil, chair of the commercial litigation department.

Harty has a track record of successfully litigating diverse cases to verdict in state, federal and appellate courts. Notable results to his credit include: helping the majority shareholders in a derivative suit gain control of a manufacturing operation with annual revenues exceeding $40 million; recovering, for a hotel operator, $7 million in damages caused by a water company which had contamination in its facility; and, after a 40-day trial, obtaining the return of $30 million in assets to the ward's estate in a multi-jurisdictional, undue influence and fraud case.

"In working alongside Cozen O'Connor attorneys for many years, I've been extremely impressed with their trial savvy, tenacity and integrity. It's exciting to become a member of this highly respected trial law firm and a department well positioned for expansion," said Harty. "I look forward to bringing my existing clients into the fold, as well as meeting the needs of other companies, both regional and national, facing a range of legal challenges."

A graduate of St. Francis University (B.A., magna cum laude, 1984) and Villanova University School of Law (J.D., 1987), Harty is a member of the American, New Jersey and Philadelphia bar associations. He sits on the board of directors of The Institute of Catholic Bioethics at Saint Joseph's University. Harty is a resident of Newtown Square, Pa.

Founded in 1970, Cozen O'Connor is a full service law firm ranked among the 100 largest law firms in the United States. With 500 attorneys practicing in 22 offices across the United States, London and Toronto, Cozen O'Connor is recognized for its success in complex litigation cases around the globe and domestic strength in business law.
