New European / US / Asian Motorola([R]) Phones Carry TriQuint Modules: Save 50% PC Board Space, Speed Manufacturing, Extend Battery Life

BARCELONA, Spain & HILLSBORO, Ore. -- TriQuint Semiconductor (Nasdaq:TQNT), a leading supplier of RF front-end modules for wireless handsets and communications networks, announced today that it is shipping RF (radio frequency) PA-Duplexer modules to global handset manufacturer Motorola([R]) for a new generation of phones now reaching retail stores in the United States, Europe and Asia. New Motorola([R]) phones with TriQuint PA-Duplexer modules include the Motorola KRZR K1m, SLVR L7c, the Racer ic502 and other popular models such as the M702iG, M702iS and RAZR V3MAXX.

The new Motorola([R]) handsets with TriQuint products from its TRITIUM PA-Duplexer Module(TM) family will operate across multiple frequencies supporting CDMA (code division multiple access), WCDMA (wideband code division multiple access) and HEDGE (HSDPA + EDGE) designs. The modules offer Motorola([R])significant circuit board space savings, a reduced bill of materials and extended battery life - key advantages in next-generation handset designs. The new modules support TriQuint's continuing strategy to supply customers with high performance, space-saving products optimized to major transceiver reference designs.

TriQuint developed the modules working closely with Motorola's handset design group as a means to integrate key functions within a single packaged device. Shipment of the new modules extends the scope of the relationship the two companies have had for more than five years.

TriQuint's new modules occupy 50% less space than discrete components fulfilling the same transmit chain functions. The modules' high-level integration and efficiency can significantly increase performance, thereby extending talk-time while reducing the manufacturer's overall materials bill. Module content typically includes multiple die-level devices created using TriQuint's highly-regarded gallium arsenide (GaAs) processes for the power amplifier and matching circuitry, as well as surface acoustic wave (SAW) technology for filtering and duplexing.

TriQuint products now shipping in production quantities to Motorola([R]) include the TQM613017 and the TQM663017 for different frequency bands within CDMA handsets. TriQuint's TQM676001 and the TQM666017 are used for various frequencies within WCDMA and HEDGE handsets. CDMA technology sees application in the United States and Korea, while WCDMA and HEDGE products are used across the globe within those markets where high bandwidth networks are already supporting 3G services such as mobile video conferencing or video downloads.
