TriQuint Introduces New Family of High Performance RF Packaged Products for Digital Radio, Sat-Com.

TriQuint's New Packaged Multi-Function Circuits Offer Manufacturing Ease, Cost Advantages

HILLSBORO, Ore. -- TriQuint Semiconductor (Nasdaq: TQNT), a leading manufacturer of RF products, today announced the availability of the first three packaged devices in its Multi-Function Circuit (MFC (Microsoft Foundation Class) An application framework for writing Microsoft C/C++ and Visual C++ applications. See application framework.

TriQuint's new MFC products will debut at the 2007 IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, New York, www.ieee.org) A membership organization that includes engineers, scientists and students in electronics and allied fields.  MTT-S MTT-S Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (IEEE)  International Microwave Symposium in Honolulu, Hawaii For the city and county of Honolulu, see City & County of Honolulu.

TriQuint's Networks Business Unit detailed its three-part vision for simplifying next-generation connectivity in a May 21st press release. "Our new MFC products embody that vision, which includes offering more integrated devices for size and cost-constrained applications and providing more high frequency packaged product options. Packaging gives new and existing customers greater access to our vast portfolio of leading die-level designs, which also ties to easier product access -- the third part of our vision for simplifying connectivity," remarked TriQuint Networks Vice President Brian Balut.

TriQuint's three newly packaged products address OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  needs for frequency upconversion (amplification) in the transmit (Tx) and local oscillator Noun 1. local oscillator - an oscillator whose output heterodynes with the incoming radio signal to produce sum and difference tones

Before integrated circuits (chips), all transistors, resistors and diodes were discrete.  layout preferences. More choices lead to easier manufacturing and faster design turns. For example: packaged products enable manufacturers not equipped to handle die to use standard pick-and-place assembly techniques, which are less costly than working with ESD-sensitive die. Alternately, packaged devices provide additional cost and time-to-market advantages by eliminating the expense and delays of using a third-party packaging vendor.

4405-SM provides high integration for designs that specify RF upconversion, a local oscillator (LO) frequency doubler and output RF signal amplification together in a small, single product. Available as a separate packaged component is TriQuint's new TGC4402-SM that provides upconversion without an integral LO doubler or output amplifier. The TGC4405-SM and TGC4402-SM both employ single-ended designs and have no external balun requirement. The third new component, TriQuint's TGC4403-SM, is a millimeter wave frequency doubler that includes an output buffer amplifier An analog device that is typically used for impedance matching and signal isolation. For example, a sound card typically uses buffer amps at most of its input and output ports. .

"Our new designs respond to customers who want to buy these types of products from TriQuint, especially those who were not equipped to handle die-level devices or simply prefer packaged products. The devices' overall performance is exceptional and we offer a very competitive cost structure. Packaging appeals to a larger number of manufacturers by offering more choices and greater flexibility. Some find that packaged devices enable more design control, so these new MFCs are just what they have been looking for Looking for

The TGC4402-SM is a K-band upconverting mixer for digital radio and sat-com applications. This single-balanced passive product features single-ended signal ports; external RF, LO and IF baluns are not required. Key performance specifications:

* RF Frequency Range: 18GHz -26GHz

* Typical Conversion Loss: 9 dB

* IF Bandwidth: 0.5 - 3.0 GHz

* Input TOI Toi (tō`ī), in the Bible, king of Hamath, father of Joram (3.) : 18 dBm (from a 17 dBm LO drive source)

* LO Signal Rejection: -40 dBc

* Package Size: 4x4x0.9 mm

The TGC4403-SM is a K-Band frequency doubler and includes a buffer amplifier. This digital radio and sat-com device delivers 20 dBm (typical) output power and 18 dB of gain. The amplifier's high conversion gain allows it to operate over a -5 dBm to +5 dBm input power range while consuming only 150mA of quiescent current from a +5V supply. Key performance specifications:

* RF Frequency Range: 16GHz -30GHz

* Gain: 18 dB (doubled output frequency from a +2 dBm, 8-15 GHz input)

* Fundamental Signal Rejection: -30 dBc

* Output RF Power: 20 dBm nominal

* Package Size: 4x4x0.9 mm

The TGC4405-SM is a K-Band single-balanced upconverter. This multi-function product for digital radio and sat-com applications features an integrated LO doubler and output post amplifier, providing 13 dB typical conversion gain across the 17-27 GHz RF band, with single-ended signal ports and integrated RF, LO and IF baluns. Key performance specifications:

* RF Frequency Range: 17GHz -27GHz

* Typical Conversion Gain: 13 dB

* IF Bandwidth: 0.5 - 3.0 GHz

* Output TOI: 28 dBm (+2 dBm LO drive source)

* LO Input Power Range: -5 dBm to +5 dBm

* Bias: 425mA from a +5V supply

* Package Size: 4x4x0.9 mm
