TriQuint Adds GSM-EDGE Switches with Built-In Logic Decoders to Handset Switch Product Line.

HILLSBORO, Ore. -- New Switches Offer Cost, Space-Savings, Performance Advantages -- Ideal for Next-Gen GSM-EDGE Miniature Module Applications

TriQuint Semiconductor, Inc. (Nasdaq:TQNT) today announced the addition of two new GSM-EDGE switch products to complement its existing successful CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) A method for transmitting simultaneous signals over a shared portion of the spectrum. The foremost application of CDMA is the digital cellular phone technology from QUALCOMM that operates in the 800 MHz band and 1.9 GHz PCS band.  handset switch product line. As handsets become more complex incorporating multiple cellular standards, the need for efficient and cost-effective signal switching and routing increases. To support handset designer's needs, TriQuint is expanding its advanced switching product line to include a variety of packaged devices for use in phones and die components for integration in complex cellular front-end modules.

The release is in conjunction with TriQuint's exhibition at the GSM World Congress in Cannes, France (14th-17th February) where the products will debut (Hall 3, Space J69). The World Congress is the largest convention and exhibition dedicated to GSM wireless communications wireless communications

"We are excited about the market success of our TQP4M3007 CDMA switch and look forward to broadening our customer's design options with our growing E-D pHEMT switch product line," said Paul Cooper, Switch Product Marketing Manager, TriQuint Semiconductor. "The product's excellent harmonic performance, lowest in-class power consumption and reduction in component count are decisive factors that will accelerate the adoption of pHEMT technology as replacement for PIN diodes."

TriQuint's SP6T switch is a single die ideally suited to routing the antenna in GSM-EDGE antenna-switch modules and front-end modules to the receiver bandpass SAW filters and transmitter low pass filters. The TQD4M4014 has an integrated logic decoder requiring only 110 microA of DC current @ 2.7V under full plus 35 dBm GSM Tx power conditions. Low insertion loss, robust harmonic performance under mismatch and ESD (1) (Electronic Software Distribution) Distributing new software and upgrades via the network rather than individual installations on each machine.
