TriQuest awarded second major purchase order from AMD; order includes beta installation of Random Logic Optimization capability for TCA products.

, today announced a second significant purchase agreement with AMD (Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, www.amd.com) A major manufacturer of semiconductor devices including x86-compatible CPUs, embedded processors, flash memories, programmable logic devices and networking chips.  (Advanced Micro Devices).

Under the agreement, AMD will expand use of high-end products from the TriQuest Controller Architect (TCA TCA

"Our relationship with AMD continues to broaden as we deliver on the promise of this new technology," said Steve Butler Steve Butler (born September 26, 1956 in Amarillo, Texas) was an open-wheel racer who was successful in USAC Sprint Car and Silver Crown racing. Steve currently resides in Kokomo, IN. , president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of TriQuest. "RTL Restructuring and Optimization is proving to be a critical tool for deep submicron designs. Without RTL Optimization, designers take too long manually restructuring and repeating logic synthesis to be competitive on next generation integrated circuits," Butler added.

"AMD's use of TCA for the past nine months has proven to be very beneficial, resulting in up to 50 percent higher performance at the RTL level for controller circuits," said Stephen King, engineering manager in AMD's Texas Microprocessor Division. "We are very excited about TriQuest's work on random logic optimization, which should boost performance in the other parts of our design. TriQuest's combination of controller and random logic optimization at the RTL level should enable a greater percentage of our chip design to be synthesized -- even at the ultra-high frequencies we are trying to achieve."

The TCA product family represents a complete design environment for the enhancement and analysis of controllers. Designers interactively select from a variety of optimization and restructuring algorithms to quickly build and test new implementations that meet their timing requirements. TCA products help designers easily meet submicron frequencies, eliminate the growing problems of multiple logic synthesis iterations, reduce design size and boost verification productivity by 10x or more.

TriQuest's product family ranges from entry level to advanced, and provides the highest performance through TriQuest's proprietary Knowledge Driven Optimization Technology (KDOT KDOT Kansas Department of Transportation ). KDOT consists of a variety of optimization and restructuring algorithms that support pre-synthesis analysis for designer efficiency and dramatic gains -- as high as 50 percent. Because KDOT works at the RTL level, it runs extremely fast, allowing tools based on this technology to be interactive with the designer.

AMD is a global supplier of integrated circuits for the personal and networked computer and communications markets. AMD produces processors, flash memories, programmable logic devices, and products for communications and networking applications. Founded in 1969 and based in Sunnyvale, Calif., AMD had revenues of $2.5 billion in 1995 (NYSE NYSE
