TriHealth Hospitals of Ohio has chosen Emergisoft Corporation's Emergency Department Information System, EmergisoftED(TM) 4.0, to enhance the efficiency and safety of all of the healthcare provider's emergency departments. TriHealth clinicians will join the more than 6,000 clinicians across the United States trained on the Emergisoft system.

The implementation and use of Emergisoft's web-based, completely comprehensive clinical documentation system will create electronic medical record ("EMR (ElectroMagnetic Radiation) The emanation of energy from everything in the universe. Through Emergisoft, physicians, nurses and hospital administrators will now have the ability to know in real-time the exact status of patient wait times, lab orders, bed availability, treatment status, prescriptions and all other Emergency Department work flow processes. They will also have the ability to electronically chart patient care through Emergisoft's physician and nursing documentation features. At TriHealth, the Emergisoft system will be interfaced to the hospital's Meditech inpatient information system.

In addition, these and other Emergisoft hospitals will have the option of automatically and electronically streaming in real-time chief complaint driven syndromic surveillance data to government agencies. Syndromic surveillance has become increasingly important for local, state and federal health agencies to track not only rare diseases and events, but also common outbreaks such as the flu. For example, a large number of people in a region might show up at urgent care facilities with similar symptoms, but individual medical centers might not treat enough patients to recognize a pattern. However, a regional surveillance system that collects data from all the facilities could recognize the signs of a serious outbreak.

TriHealth is recognized nationally as one of the most wired health systems in the country by Hospitals and Health Networks, a publication of the American Hospital Society. Additionally, the hospital has received awards for its adoption of wireless technologies. TriHealth will have the option of utilizing the Emergisoft system in their wireless environment.

This year, Emergisoft is celebrating 15 years of leadership in the automation of America's Emergency Departments.
