Tredegar purchases Brazilian film producers.

Nonwoven film supplier Tredegar Industries, Richmond, VA, recently purchased Folium Plasticos Especiais, Diadema, Brazil. Folium Plasticos manufactures polypropylene and low and high density polyethylene stretch films for disposable products such as feminine hygiene materials and baby diapers. The current film capacity at Folium Plasticos is 300 tons per month, produced on Reifenhauser extrusion lines.

In 1991, Folium Plasticos produced 3000 tons of film, corresponding to $6 million in sales, 12% higher than 1990. With this purchase, Tredegar hopes to dominate the film market for disposable goods in the South American hygiene field.
