 "America's first national tree" is spending the winter in the Veterans' Park of Honor in Berlin, New Hampshire Berlin is a city located on the Androscoggin River in north-eastern Coos County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 10,331 at the 2000 census. It includes the village of Cascade. , a rest from its journey to visit the 56 places that supplied soil in which its seed sprouted sprout

By next spring the tree is expected to have visited each place that donated soil; as of November 17, the now 6-foot tree had traveled some 138,705 miles. According to the park's website (www.vetspark.org), the silver maple will continue traveling to U.S. capitols before being planted at the official opening of the Veterans' Park of Honor May 29.
