EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

IT was another tough year for tourism around the globe, and L.A. County was no exception.

International tourism has declined steadily over the past two years, taking a 17 percent hit in 2002, to 4.1 million visitors, compared to 2001. The region hit a high of 5.5 million visitors in 2000.

Travel-related spending fell to $11.8 billion from $12.1 billion in the same period.
