AEA said it is willing to address environmental issues and participate in an ETS but that such participation "should be seen in the context of a bundle of measures" such as technological development and implementation of the Single European Sky The Single European Sky is a European Commission initiative that is intended to change the future structure of air traffic control across Europe. The aim is to use more efficient air traffic management that is more closely based on actual flight patterns, rather than using the , which it said would cut emissions by 12%.
