Trapeze Networks' New RingMaster Software Simplifies Configuration of Voice, Security and Other Wireless Services.PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Trapeze Networks(TM), the award-winning provider of the wireless LAN A local area network that transmits over the air typically in the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz unlicensed frequency band. It does not require line of sight between sender and receiver. Wireless base stations (access points) are wired to an Ethernet network and transmit a radio frequency over an area (WLAN See wireless LAN. WLAN - wireless local area network ) Mobility System(TM), today announced a new and improved version of its RingMaster(TM) lifecycle network management tool. A number of new features have been added to simplify deployment of wireless services such as voice and security. Additional improvements allow for scaling RingMaster to support configuration and monitoring of thousands of Mobility Exchange(TM) switches and tens of thousands of Mobility Point(TM) radios, a necessary requirement for managing large branch networks. Configuration options are clearly presented or excluded as the operator steps through the wizard so that complex services can be configured with a few mouse clicks, without introducing errors. The overall structure of RingMaster has been changed to improve usability. All of the major functional areas -- RF planning, configuration, monitoring and reporting among others are now available on a tool bar. Any feature, creating a report on network utilization for example, can be reached with no more than two mouse clicks so any task can be executed quickly. Navigation enhancements and persistent memory persistent memory - non-volatile storage allow paging through (forward and back) panels or wizards a network manager has used. Configuration panels have been flattened to allow both simultaneous display and change of parameters on a single page. With this new release a single RingMaster server can support up to 500 Mobility Exchange switches, 2,000 Mobility Point radios and 30,000 clients. Multi-server configurations allow scaling to thousands of switches and tens of thousands of Mobility Points. "We've been a Trapeze customer for over two years now and have watched the evolution of Trapeze's RingMaster lifecycle network management suite," said Cliff Weaver, director of MIS for Memorial Hospital. "It remains the most powerful WLAN management tool on the market and with the latest release they have made it simple to deploy complex services like voice and advanced security features like WPA2. This not only saves my staff time but eliminates configuration errors." Availability and Pricing Trapeze's new RingMaster feature set, part of its 4.1 release, is available now through Trapeze. This software release is a free upgrade to all existing customers with a support contract.
