Transit TV Experiences an Increase in Viewership as Gas Prices Continue to Skyrocket.

LOS ANGELES -- In light of recent gas hikes across the country, increasing numbers of commuters have opted to take public transportation to save money, triggering viewership numbers to rise for Transit TV, the largest broadcast network specifically targeting transit riders across North America.

According to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), in the first quarter of 2006, total Metro bus ridership increased seven percent over the same period last year.

"Angelinos see the advantages of public transportation," said Warren Morse, Metro's Deputy Executive Officer of Communications. "As gas prices continue to rise, we expect our ridership to increase accordingly."

The independent gas price monitoring service GasBuddy.com, reported that gas prices in major cities such as Atlanta and Los Angeles have risen more than 50 cents per gallon during the month of April alone, driving pump fees to well over $3.00 per gallon in both cities.

"Traditional media, such as broadcast TV, are struggling to maintain their audiences, while new media such as Transit TV are seeing significant increases, especially with young viewers," said Gerry Noble, Transit TV president and chief executive officer. "We are pleased to report that our network now generates over 11 million impressions every week."
