The city is a leading producer of Japan's electrical equipment.  High-Technologies Corp. (Tokyo, Japan, www.hitachi-hitec.com) recently acquired Sanyo High Technology Co., which will be renamed Hitachi High-Tech Instruments Corp.  and Universal Instruments Corp. (Binghamton, NY, www.uic.com) have announced their intention to continue the successful original equipment manufacturer (OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it.
