Transcending politics.Brian McLaren's article, "Risky Business" (September 2004) is exceptional advice for the pulpit, for the politically active Christian, and for the prophetic voices of the kingdom of God. I think it surprises many people in the pew and in the Bible Belt Bible belt n. Those sections of the United States, especially in the South and Middle West, where Protestant fundamentalism is widely practiced. Bible belt that one can be "Christian" and still vote something other than Republican. McLaren's suggestions are a great way to give people in our church another viewpoint from within the Christian community. Maybe, through public dialogue (in love), we can all transcend to something better than false dichotomies and ad hominem attacks An ad hominem attack is a personal attack in the form of an ad hominem argument.
