The Zonal Drying System eliminates condensation of water on the aircraft structure. Airlines incur increased maintenance costs and fuel costs due to the effects of condensation, and periodic inspections are mandated to determine if there are any signs of damage caused by water from condensation. The Zonal Drying System is presently operated in approximately 100 aircraft.

the Zonal Drying(TM) System so it could be offered as an optional system for new B737NG aircraft," said Arthur van der Wal, VP Fleet Management for Transavia Airlines. "Transavia salutes both Boeing and CTT in achieving this important goal for the airlines by working together."

"Transavia's order is a significant step for CTT and positive endorsement which further demonstrates that dry air is the right choice for combating aircraft condensation," said Torbjorn Johansson, President of CTT Systems. "It has been our long-term objective to be able to offer our system to the airlines, and even have the cooperation of Boeing to get it installed during aircraft production. The integration work with the airframe manufacturer is running at full speed."

The Zonal Drying(TM) System is the only solution that solves the problem of condensation in aircraft. It injects very dry air between the side wall material and the body skin. When standard cabin air hits the extremely cold metal skin, the humidity in the air condenses. It is then further iced up and in the descent it melts again. A wide body aircraft can be carrying a half-ton of water and ice that has condensed con·dense

from the humidity. This water and ice represents additional weight, which requires the use of additional fuel.

With the Zonal Drying(TM) System, the designers have found the solution to start at the cause of the problem and not to bring any other air than very dry air in that area of the cold skin. It even improves the humidity in the passenger cabin slightly as the humidity taken out, is dumped in the cabin.
