Trans-Hudson Express Tunnel project earns top praise at PWC annual event.


Professional Women in Construction (PWC) president Lenore Janis said the organization was proud to honor THE (Trans-Hudson Express) Tunnel project at its annual awards ceremony.

"This $7.4 billion project has tremendous potential for our industry--creating terrific opportunities and benefits for everyone in our region," said Janis.

THE Tunnel will double commuter rail capacity between New Jersey and New York, enhancing mobility and fostering job growth in the region.

Janis announced PWC's Project Recognition Award for the THE Tunnel being developed by the NJ Transit and The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, and paid tribute to the teams helping to advance the project: THE Partnership, P.E.--Parsons Brinkerhoff, STV STV Single Transferable Vote

 Inc. and DMJM DMJM Daniel, Mann, Johnson, & Mendenhall (architecture, engineering, and construction services firm)  Harris; THE Consortium, CM, a tri-venture of Tishman Construction Corp., Parsons Transportation Group, and Arup; and Transit Link Consultants, Systra and Parsons Brinkerhoff, who are conducting the environmental analysis.

Warrington, who accepted the award on behalf of all involved parties, praised Coscia for having made "an extraordinary difference." He applauded PWC Special Recognition honoree Jan Walden, assistant executive director, Office of Business Diversity, NJ Transit Corporation, and NJ Transit Board Member Flora Castillo, for their efforts to increase participation of women and minority-owned firms.

Warrington also paid tribute to the bi-state support of New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine, New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, and New York City Deputy Mayor Daniel L. Doctoroff Daniel L. Doctoroff (born July 11, 1958) is Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and Rebuilding for the City of New York. Under the leadership of Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, Doctoroff has overseen one of the city’s most dramatic economic resurgences, spearheading the effort ; MTA executive director and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. PWC gave Special Recognition Awards to members Dorothy Wasaiak, president and founder, Green Engineering Project Construction Corp. (GEPC GEPC General Electric Power Company ), and Kiwesa King-Yara, PE, president, SureTech Engineering, PC. GEPC, a woman-owned firm, has been involved in numerous green building design and construction projects throughout the East Coast. Wasiak was a featured speaker at the recent "Green Roofs--Green New York" workshop presented by Earth Pledge and Green Roofs For Healthy Cities.
