Trans States Airlines signs new five-year feeder agreement with TWA.


ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 14, 1994--Trans States Airlines Inc., which operates as Trans World Express Trans World Express (TWE) was the express/regional carrier for Trans World Airlines. When TWA was bought by American Airlines, the Trans World Express carriers became affiliated with American Airlines under the name AmericanConnection.  in the Midwest, announced Monday it has signed a new five-year agreement to provide feeder services to Trans World Airlines Trans World Airlines, commonly known as TWA, was a major American airline company that was acquired by American Airlines in April 2001. For many years it was headquartered at the Kansas City Downtown Airport, as well as midtown Manhattan in New York City.  at its St. Louis hub.

Trans States also announced it has signed an agreement to purchase 25 Jetstream 41 turboprop turboprop: see turbine.

Kanodia estimated that the greater passenger capacity of the new aircraft, together with increases in the number of cities served by Trans World Express, will generate more than $27 million in additional revenue for TWA in 1995. He also said he expects the expanded operations of Trans World Express to add about 100 new jobs in the St. Louis area.

Trans States said that the new aircraft will replace planes currently in the Trans World Express fleet. The first new Jetstream 41s will enter service in February 1995, with the rest of the initial 25-aircraft order delivered throughout 1995 and 1996.

Trans States has operated as Trans World Express under a code-sharing agreement in St. Louis with TWA since 1985. Under a code-sharing, Trans World Express flights carry TWA flight numbers and are listed as TWA flights in reservations systems.

Trans World Express, which is incorporated as Trans States Airlines Trans States Airlines is an American regional airline based in St. Louis, Missouri. It operates as American Connection for American Airlines, United Express for United Airlines and US Airways Express for US Airways.  in Missouri, is one of the largest regional airlines in the United States, employing over 1,000 aviation professionals. It operates 44 aircraft and provides service between TWA's St. Louis hub and 31 cities.
