Musical style of 14th-century Europe, particularly France. As composers began to use ever shorter notes in their music, the old system of rhythmic modes (see Ars Antiqua) ceased to be adequate to describe it.

Practica Musica ear training and music theory software is now available in version 4.3, which contains additional beginning and advanced activities and a feature that makes it easier to organize individual programs of study. The software allows teachers to fully customize activities to fit the curriculum. Notation notation: see arithmetic and musical notation.
