Train owner-tenants in north Manitoba.

The Manitoba government, in collaboration with northern and Aboriginal organizations, has created a program that provides useful information on maintaining safe, economical homes in the province's northern climate, Family Services and Housing Minister Christine Melnick announced.

The northern homeowner and tenant training program was tested with residents of 11 communities from May through October last year.

The program includes training on health and safety in the home, maintenance, budgeting and improving energy efficiency. It was created in collaboration with the Northern Association of Community Councils, Manitoba Metis Federation, Manitoba Keewatinook Ininew Okimowin, Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs and the Northern Urban Industrial Communities. The northern homeowner and tenant training program was delivered by Anokiiwin Training Institute.
