Train owner-tenants in north Manitoba.The Manitoba Manitoba (mănĭtō`bə), province (2001 pop. 1,119,583), 250,934 sq mi (650,930 sq km), including 39,215 sq mi (101,580 sq km) of water surface, W central Canada. government, in collaboration with northern and Aboriginal organizations, has created a program that provides useful information on maintaining safe, economical homes in the province's northern climate, Family Services and Housing Minister Christine Melnick announced. The northern homeowner and tenant training program was tested with residents of 11 communities from May through October last year. The program includes training on health and safety in the home, maintenance, budgeting and improving energy efficiency. It was created in collaboration with the Northern Association of Community Councils, Manitoba Metis Metis (mē`tĭs), in astronomy, one of the 39 known moons, or natural satellites, of Jupiter.
