WAYNE, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 12, 2002

Traffic Pulse Traffic Pulse, also known as Traffic.com and Mobility Technologies, is a nationwide provider of traffic information via a number of media, including the Internet, cell phones, radio, satellite radio and television.  Networks (SM) (TPN TPN, in biochemistry, abbreviation for triphosphopyridine nucleotide, a coenzyme now usually called nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate, or NADP. ) today announced execution of its Traffic Pulse Partnership Program with Weather Central, Inc. to develop a traffic presentation product for TV stations to graphically display unique traffic content.

TPN, a national provider of traffic information, will integrate its data with the GENESIS Genesis (jĕn`əsĭs), 1st book of the Bible, first of the five books of the Law (the Pentateuch or Torah) ascribed by tradition to Moses.  graphics system of Weather Central, a leading supplier of real-time 1. real-time - Describes an application which requires a program to respond to stimuli within some small upper limit of response time (typically milli- or microseconds). Using the robust mapping and animation capabilities of GENESIS, TPN can use compelling graphics to showcase its Traffic Pulse (SM) traffic information for TV viewers.

GENESIS combines dynamic graphic elements with detailed 32-bit color maps See color palette. , enabling broadcasters to illustrate traffic volumes with the same graphic impact and flexibility that Weather Central presents weather information to viewers nationwide. Patricia Borchardt, General Manager of Weather Central's Product Division, said: "A key component of Weather Central's product menu is a suite of high-end graphics solutions enabling TV stations to enhance viewer interest in on-air weather reports. As we looked at Traffic Pulse Network's compelling traffic story, we saw an opportunity to integrate our graphics products in a way that showcases their traffic information."

Borchardt added: "By combining the high-end animation features of GENESIS with TPN's unique digital traffic data, we can represent traffic flow not only by color but also by relative motion to create a more compelling, easy-to-understand story for viewers."

Al McGowan, TPN Senior Vice President, said: "Until now, most TV traffic presentations have been static except for panning and zooming of cameras on selected sections of highways. We believe our partnership will alter the landscape of TV traffic reporting A traffic report is an element of a radio program or TV news broadcast that informs listeners about general traffic conditions, locations and severity of traffic accidents, road construction detours/slowdowns, etc., on roadways within the broadcast area.  using graphics and animation in a format with high viewer appeal.
