Traffic Pulse Networks Provides Digital Traffic Service To Pittsburgh's WPXI-TV Channel 11.

WAYNE, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 18, 2002

Traffic Pulse Traffic Pulse, also known as Traffic.com and Mobility Technologies, is a nationwide provider of traffic information via a number of media, including the Internet, cell phones, radio, satellite radio and television.  Networks (TPN TPN, in biochemistry, abbreviation for triphosphopyridine nucleotide, a coenzyme now usually called nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate, or NADP. ) announced that starting today it is providing Pittsburgh's WPXI-TV Channel 11 with real-time traffic information for use with the station's locally produced news programs.

The information is gathered by TPN'S Digital Traffic Pulse(SM) roadside sensor network A low-speed industrial network that is used to connect sensors to actuators. A sensor network implies limited or no controller functions. Multiple sensor networks may be coupled to form device networks. See industrial control network.  that features precise point-to-point travel times for the city's major highways in addition to actual speeds and traffic volume, incidents and events.

The sensor system is supplemented by TPN's four-camera network that supplies non-exclusive images for use during Channel 11's early morning, midday

In addition, all traffic reports and camera images will be re-broadcast in their entirety on the Pittsburgh Cable News Channel The Pittsburgh Cable News Channel (PCNC) is a 24-hour local news cable channel serving the Pittsburgh area with re-telecasts of WPXI newscasts. Owned by Cox Enterprises, the station is aired on Comcast and Adelphia cable systems in Western Pennsylvania. .
