Business Editors

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 12, 2001

TradeStation Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:TRAD) announced today that its new TradeStation platform with integrated direct-access brokerage execution will be launched June 27th. Prior to the full launch, existing brokerage clients will be migrated to the new brokerage platform starting this week. TradeStation will be unveiled at the institutional MAR and SIA Sia (sī`ə) or Siaha (sī`əhə), in the Bible, family returned from the Exile.

The New TradeStation Platform

TradeStation is the first trading platform that combines the speed of intelligent direct-access order-routing with two powerful advantages not found anywhere else: The power to test and automate your own trading strategies In finance, a trading strategy (see also trading system) is a predefined set of rules to apply.

Usually, this refers to a means used to replicate an option in order to give it an arbitrage free value in the sense that the cost of buying some financial assets to give the same

TradeStation is designed to transform a user's PC into an interactive trading assistant. One that can actually help traders develop their own time-tested rules for getting in and out of the market. And one that offers traders the power to automate the execution of their trading strategies in ways never thought possible.

"After years of hard work, we are at last just a couple weeks away from the most significant event in the company's history," said Bill Cruz, Co-CEO and Co-Chairman of the Board of TradeStation Group. "The imminent release of the new TradeStation platform means not only are we about to provide our customers with the ability to trade through their preferred analytical platform, but that we've also completed the transformation of our business model we laid out over a year ago."

Brokerage Web Sites for Institutional and Active Traders Launched Today

TradeStation Group launched two new Web sites today at http://www.tradestation.com. One is for institutional clients - hedge funds hedge fund, in finance, a highly speculative, largely unregulated investment device. Originating in the 1950s, the funds "hedge" by offsetting "short" positions (borrowing a security and then selling it at a higher price before repaying the lender) against "long" , mutual and pension funds, and professional money managers. The other is for active individual traders - like many of the thousands of users who have spent over $100 million to purchase TradeStation software over the years. These sites allow institutional and active traders to learn about the unique functionality of TradeStation and to open brokerage accounts Brokerage Account

through the company's subsidiary, TradeStation Securities, Inc. In particular, they provide full details about the two key innovations at the heart of the platform - strategy testing and automated trading.

Strategy Testing

What has made TradeStation analytical software Analytical software is software that is designed specifically for and development of a particular environment or object.  so successful over the years is its unique capability to allow users to describe their trading strategies to a computer and have the computer test how successful that strategy could have been historically. What makes this unique strategy testing capability possible is TradeStation's EasyLanguage(R), the language through which the strategies can be described and modified using English-like statements. It is at the heart of TradeStation, and with the release of the new brokerage platform on June 27th, it is the first time that institutional and active individual traders will be able to link their strategies directly to direct-access brokerage execution within the same platform.

Automated Trading

TradeStation's new Strategy Automation Engine allows users to automate the monitoring and execution of their trading strategies faster than humanly hu·man·ly

possible. Once a user has one or even dozens of strategies that user wants to trade, TradeStation will monitor them in real-time, tick-by-tick, and once buy or sell conditions are met, TradeStation will instantly and automatically send the order into the market via direct-access order-routing. Next, TradeStation immediately starts monitoring the market until the order is filled. It then monitors the exit criteria placing all exit orders accordingly.

State-of-the-art intelligent direct-access execution is the foundation of the Strategy Automation Engine and is designed to provide two things: reduced costs and increased speed in executing orders. It ensures traders have access to all major pools of liquidity for their orders and on an agency-basis only. Intelligent order-routing technology directs orders automatically to the avenue of liquidity offering the best available price, regardless of whether that fill is provided by an ECN (Electronic Communications Network) A computerized, private financial trading system.
