This month, we highlight the staff member behind extension 308. [ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] Since my start date in August 2006, it has been a pleasure to work for NEHA. The organization is truly a source for innovative ideas, and quality is valued. The expectations of employees at NEHA are challenging, but the importance of the organization makes the challenge very satisfying professionally. What could be more motivating than to know that the work we do affects the lives of other people in such a significant way? My work involves providing financial management and information to the senior management of the organization. I earned my bachelor's degree in accounting and finance--a dual degree from AIU AIU American Intercontinental University AIU Allegheny Intermediate Unit (Homestead, PA) AIU Atlantic International University AIU Association of Indian Universities AIU Association Internationale des Universités Buckhead University. I have worked as the chief financial manager in the nonprofit A corporation or an association that conducts business for the benefit of the general public without shareholders and without a profit motive. Nonprofits are also called not-for-profit corporations. Nonprofit corporations are created according to state law. sector and in manufacturing for several years. This is an exciting time to work for NEHA because NEHA has been growing and because there are so many new programs and benefits that we will be able to offer our members in the future. These circumstances provide a great opportunity for me to serve our members. My career began when I joined the United States Navy United States Navy Major branch of the U.S. military forces, charged with defending the nation at sea and maintaining security on the seas wherever U.S. interests extend. The Continental Navy was established by the Continental Congress in 1775. , serving in Alaska, Italy, Florida, and many points in between. After being with the military, I came back home to Colorado and raised my three children. One son is now serving on a fast-attack submarine, the U.S.S. Norfolk, and the other son is living in California with his wife and the newest addition to my family--a granddaughter. Last but never least is my daughter, who is in high school and is very talented in music and voice. When I am not being a taxi driver taxi driver n → taxista m/f taxi driver taxi n → chauffeur m de taxi taxi driver taxi n → for my daughter and her friends, I enjoy sewing, cooking and all the domestic arts, and travel. My latest interest is paleontology paleontology (pā'lēəntŏl`əjē) [Gr.,= study of early beings], science of the life of past geologic periods based on fossil remains. , in which I am earning a certificate. I am excited to be part of NEHA and to make a difference in people's lives. It will be a pleasure to work with the members and staff to provide support for this organization. |
