Toyota's Taiwan production tops 2 million units.

TOKYO, May 31 Kyodo

Toyota Motor Corp. said Thursday its cumulative vehicle production in Taiwan has surpassed 2 million units amid the automaker's drive to expand overseas output and boost sales of hybrid cars.

The Japanese automaker has been producing vehicles including the Corolla corolla: see petal.  for export to the Middle East and the Camry at Kuozui Motors Ltd., Toyota's first production base in Taiwan established in 1984. Production of the Camry Hybrid started in February, becoming the company's first hybrid model to be made in Taiwan The Made in Taiwan mark is a country of origin label affixed to products to indicate that the said product is made in Taiwan, The Republic of China. The label is not regulated by any institution or law. .

The production capacities of the Toyota affiliate's Chung-Li and Kuan-Yin plants total 165,000 vehicles a year, according to the company.
