See Toronto Stock Exchange (TSE). : 4518) announced on July 20 that it has launched in the US a Phase I clinical trail for T-817MA, a neurotrophic agent intended for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease Alzheimer's disease (ăls`hī'mərz, ôls–), degenerative disease of nerve cells in the cerebral cortex that leads to atrophy of the brain and senile dementia. . Specifically, the agent is expected to halt the progression of the disease by inhibiting nerve cell death and promoting neurite outgrowth. The company plans to start a US Phase II trial in the fourth quarter of 2006.
