When its avid Reader grew up, she reintroduced the book to acclaim, and then wrote her own sequel and put herself into the plot. She and the kingdom act out typical fantasy stories as the Reader progresses through the book, but they do the unexpected: look up at the Reader. As a result, the fairy tale characters get caught up in an unexpected adventure. The new Reader is Kara Kara (kär`ə), river, c.140 mi (230 km) long, NE European and NW Siberian Russia. It flows N from the N Urals into the Kara Sea, forming part of the traditional border between European and Asian Russia.
