:TPN TPN, in biochemistry, abbreviation for triphosphopyridine nucleotide, a coenzyme now usually called nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate, or NADP. ) today announced that it will seek shareholder approval for a name change to TPN Holdings plc. at an extraordinary general meeting to be convened on February 28, 2001.

The new name will reflect the significant changes made over the past six months to the Company's shape and direction. Its new business strategy has de-emphasised the branding of TownPages, which is now used solely for its information service website, and the Town Pages UK Limited subsidiary has been renamed Avatar Interactive Limited.

The Company's management and board of directors firmly believe that the name TPN Holdings plc more accurately portrays its structure as a holding company with investments in a number of subsidiaries, such as Buyers Guide plc and the WWW WWW or W3: see World Wide Web.
